Common Labatory of the Engineering College: The Clean Room

Goal Setting

The co-laboratory of the Engineering College –The clean room
The clean room is purposed for both talent cultivation and R&D to expand some applied science domains like semiconductors, micro-mechanical-electronic products, flat display pannels and photoelectric products. Various departments and institutes are provided with the work environment of clean room and relevant facilities for different production process arrangement and tests. It aims to cultivate hi-technology talents both proficient in theoretical and practical affairs and aggressively increase the cooperation opportunities among our school, external R&D institutes and other business organizations to enhance the upgrade for traditional industries and the development for hi-technology industries..

Research direction
Including micro-fabrication sensors, micro-fabrication actuator, micro-electro-mechanical systems, semiconductor processing, packaging and testing, biochip, Flat-Panel display, opto-electronic semiconductor

Support curriculum
semiconductor and micro-electro-mechanical courses, Flat-Panel display courses, green energy technology courses.

Professors who provide services: Horng-Hwa Lu (ME), Chi-Hsiang Pan (ME), Cheng-Fang Ou (CME)、Fu-Jen Wang(RACE)、Wen-Chang Shih, (CME)、Wern-Dare Jheng (ME)

The co-laboratory of the Engineering College - the Fuel Cell Laboratory
To coordinate with current energy crisis, governmental carbon-decreasing policies and professional specialties of teachers at various departments and institutes, our school focus academic effort on the development of fuel cells. Because the technology for fuel cells is combined with the techniques involved with mechanical engineering, chemical material and refrigeration engineering techniques including precision production and processing for fuel cell components (mechanical engineering), flow channel design (mechanical and refrigeration engineering), simulation (chemical material and refrigeration engineering ), fuel cell material and catalysts (chemical material engineering), the co-laboratory, namely the fuel cell laboratory, is therefore established with the approval from management ranker meetings at the College of Engineering.

Goal Setting
Fuel cells mean a brand new and clean energy under endeavoring effort both locally and internationally. It is involved with wide technique and science domains mainly including heat flow, precision production, design, material, electro-chemical and electro-mechanical control engineering. At present, there are 3 departments at our Engineering College, namely the Department of Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning and Energy Engineering, the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering and Material Engineering with highly professional and harmonious professional faculties available. It is an engineering college with extremely promising cross-discipline potentials in academic research. Based on such an advantageous condition, the College of Engineering establishes the Fuel Cell Technique Development Laboratory.

Time Schedule of the Establishment:

The construction of the Fuel Cell Lab is expected to be completed over three years. In the first year, the fuel cell performance and AC impedance testing system is purchased to establish the ability fuel cell testing. In the second year, the lab will establish the H2-O2 fuel cell testing system for the related technical development. In the third year, the increment of the equipments will focus on the methanol reformer such that the research topic is able to expand toward the hydrogen production field. Therefore, the fuel cell lab is able to become as the hydrogen and fuel cell development center, continually to be integrated with the solar energy and wind power, and serve as a distinguish feature lab in central Taiwan. .
